Corn flowering period refers to the period from tasseling to maturity, including flowering, loosening, silking, fertilization and grain formation. During this period, the main task of field management is to create favorable conditions for flowering, pollination and fruiting, to prevent premature aging, and to prevent greed and late maturity. To achieve the purpose of more grains, full grains, high yield. China Agricultural Technology Network reminds you to pay attention to fertilizer and water management.
1. Clever pursuit of "growth fertilizer": If the soil is barren, insufficient topdressing during the ear stage, corn growth is weak, and there is a phenomenon of de-fertilization, it should be pursued. However, it is necessary to master the principle of early application and less application, generally not later than the silking period, and the amount of fertilizer applied does not exceed about 10% of the total amount of topdressing. Summer corn and wheat interplanting corn have insufficient fertilizer at the stage, and when the amount of topdressing at the ear stage is small, grain fertilizer should be pursued to prevent premature aging. If the soil is fertile, there is more topdressing at the ear stage, and the corn grows well and there is no de-fertilization, then it is not necessary to apply tapping fertilizer to prevent greed and late maturity.
2. Watering and drainage: Corn still needs a lot of water from tasseling to milking. Proper soil moisture can prolong the functional period of leaves, prevent premature senescence, and promote grain formation and filling. Watering early in the flowering and grouting stages can significantly increase yield. In the later stages of corn growth, the root viability is weakened and it is not tolerant to waterlogging. If the water holding capacity in the field exceeds 80% for a long period of time, it will cause hypoxia in the root system, leading to premature aging and reduced grain weight. Therefore, attention should be paid to drainage in low-lying and flood-prone areas, or excessive rain.
